Apps not opening

Hello, I recently installed the app and set up auto-launch, but when I tap the app in blank spaces it doesn’t open. It just pulls up the keyboard to edit the text associated with the app. In addition, editing the themes or aesthetics of the widgets doesn’t seem to change anything, either. Is there something I’m not understanding?
